This may take the form of case studies, narratives, demonstrations or technical reports based on evaluation. The outcomes of practice may be improved frameworks, concepts, understandings or structures. This kind of work may involve putting theory and research into practice).

- Research Focus (A paper reporting upon original research, based on the systematic collection and analysis of data or facts. This kind of work may involve the application or testing of theory).

- Theory Focus (A paper which is broad and generalising in its emphasis, reflecting upon and systematically referenced against one or more bodies of literature or systems of thought).

Thematic areas:

We include the broad and inclusive spectrum of sport for development, following the definition of the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace (2003, p.2) incorporating “all forms of physical activity that contribute to physical fitness, mental well-being and social interaction. These include play; recreation; organized, casual or competitive sport; and indigenous sports or games”.

Under the umbrella of the main topic Sport and Development and focussing on networking & strategic planning we include specific thematic areas in which theory and practise will be discussed from a scientific point of view. In these thematic areas of Peace, Health, Environment and Policy/CSR , Sport’s role and contribution will be discussed and examined.

The envisaged outcome is the start of active working groups on the sub themes and the discussion of the topics from national, regional and international viewpoints and to take the topics jointly further through research, training, community engagement and policy development.
